CODE BY TESSISAMESS

The Theorem of the Astral Rose is an exploration class vessel designed and built by the mysterious Ascendants, and is one of a seven-ship fleet tasked with exploring the bounds beyond Alliance space. Internally, it looks much like one might expect a spaceship to look like -- externally, however, it resembles an ancient wooden ship, complete with solar sails and rigging.

It has state-of-the-art technology built into every facet of its use, from scientific laboratories to entertainment complexes. It is staffed by the robotic Hosts, who endeavour to keep everything running smoothly.

Its name is a reference to a famous thought experiment by scientist Swansong-14, who posited that alternate universes might not be shaped like a web or a grid, but rather the petals of a rose folded delicately over its bud.

PERSONAL CABIN STYLE 1

PERSONAL CABIN: STYLE 1

All Wayfarers may claim a personal cabin of their own; they come in two styles, modern and rustic. The modern style is a living space designed to ensure comfort while simultaneously packing as much technology into the room as possible. These rooms come furnished with a bed, bedside tables, a small sitting area, a dining table, and a personal bathroom. Nearly everything about the room can be customized, from setting the walls to different displays or screens, to changing the colors of everything via nano-tech.

PERSONAL CABIN STYLE 2

PERSONAL CABIN: STYLE 2

For those with a more rustic sensability, the second style of cabin more closely matches the Theorem's exterior; of wood and portholes, sails and iron nails. This cabin is designed to be as warm and inviting as possible, boasting soft lighting and even softer fabrics, with old-fashioned wooden furniture. Like the other style of cabin, it is fully furnished, and has its own private ensuite. If you want to change the furnishings of this one, however, you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way!

MEDICAL WING

MEDICAL WING

What would an exploration voyage be without its medbay, and what would a crew be without their medical personnel? The medical wing is where some of the most cutting-edge technology resides on the Theorem. Wayfarers can choose between being treated by Hosts or by Medical Division personnel, and both will do their best to ensure a comfortable journey.

The medical wing plays host to emergency treatment rooms, surgical rooms, long-term recovery rooms, and consultation rooms. Medical staff provide a wide range of services: not just injury and illness treatment, but check-up exams, disability support, and research.

MESS HALL

MESS HALL

On most ships, the mess hall is fairly standard: tables and chairs, a service buffet, with a single kitchen serving many. Here, the Ascendants have gone for a slightly more eccentric approach, in that the mess hall is a park with food trucks in a rough circle around the perimeter. There is even real grass and pavement underfoot, with pathways lit by string lights, and a cluster of picnic style tables in the courtyard.

Of course, as this is a multi-cultural voyage, Wayfarers will likely be able to find exactly what they're looking for among the many food trucks. Earth foods are always popular, but they can also find more far-flung offerings, from Hisian blungus to the suspended ice-cream globes that are so popular in the Orange Quadrant.

KITCHENS

KITCHENS

For those that would prefer to make their own food, or have something more simple made, there are a number of kitchens available for Wayfarer use. They are stocked with basic ingredients, but also feature standard bio replicators: machines capable of replicating just about any meal one cares to input, whether it be a bowl of oatmeal or a five-course meal. They can also replicate ingredients, should one prefer to cook from scratch.

Beware: the cutlary, dishes, and plates might be... a bit eccentric. None of them match.

SCIENCE LAB

SCIENCE LAB

The place where you might most frequently find workaholic scientists, the science lab is equipped with just about everything a keen scientist might want. Personnel can make their own work station, research their own projects, and make their own breakthroughs — or they can collaborate with others. From quantum microscopes to nano-teleportation, this lab is capable of nearly any equipment a scientist could dream up.

ENGINEERING LAB

ENGINEERING LAB

Placed a safe distance away from anything vital on the Theorem just in case someone makes something explosive, the engineering lab is perhaps one of the more chaotic places on the ship. Stocked with nearly everything an engineer could want, this space supports Wayfarer engineers and everything they would like to research, develop, take apart, or build.

LIBRARY

LIBRARY

The home of the Research & Archives Division, the library stocks over a billion books, essays, textbooks, research journals, newspaper archives, and transcripts. Luckily, it comes with a robust search engine! Most of the texts are in digital form capable of being sent to the Wayfarer's datapads, but there are also some real books available, in paper, stone, liquid, pheromone, and plant form, from many different cultures.

SUPPLY SHOP

SUPPLY SHOP

Since Wayfarers arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs, the Hosts have anticipated that they will need a wide range of supplies, and thus, have set up a one stop shop for every basic life necessity a Wayfarer will need. Basic clothes -- sets of gear for cold weather, pajamas in plain colors, and the most basic of everyday clothes -- hygiene supplies, bathroom supplies, preferred utensils, bags, etc. Expect nothing particularly fancy, but it will be solidly made and built to last. And best of all; free!

(But the Host who runs the shop, Jade's Shadow Sanctuary, will nonetheless graciously accept favors if offered, particularly to help out with the shop or polish their chassis)

ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX

ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX

The entertainment complex plays host to a number of activities, from rentable sports grounds, to movie theaters, and even to mini golf. It's popular all over the universe!

Have you ever wondered what the media of other planets might be like? Wonder no more, because the Ascendants have put together a library of media from more than four hundred alien cultures. Television shows, movies, documentaries, recordings of plays, podcasts, radio archives, and much more. These are available to view in private theater, booth, or be sent to Wayfarer's datapads.

THE PAPER LANTERN BAR

THE PAPER LANTERN BAR

For those who just need a break after a long day at work, the Paper Lantern is a modern-style bar staffed by Hosts. They will only serve alcohol to adults, but people younger than that are welcome to hang out as well. The atmosphere is chill, though the music tends to vary greatly depending on which Host is in control of the playlist that day.

For those with vices, several implements for stimulants can be found for free, here. Nicotine in the form of e-cigarettes or vapes, caffeine vapor machines, oxygen shots, whatever your heart desires (as long as the Hosts judge it won't be unhealthy for you).

HOLO DECK

HOLO DECK

For all your holographic needs! The holo deck is a space that can be programmed to look like anything, though it is most often used for practice combat scenarios. Its walls are layered with forcefields and are impenetrable, so Wayfarers can feel free to let loose with their weapons and their magic with no fear of damaging the ship.

UPPER DECK

UPPER DECK

If the inside of the Theorem is largely modern, the outside is wholly different, and the upper deck is proof of it. Styled just like an old wooden ship designed to cross liquid oceans, the deck is open and entirely walkable. Visible above will be glimpses of the shield extended to provide oxygen and protection, but mostly, the view will be of the unguarded universe, close enough that you could almost reach out and touch it.

DOCKING BAY

DOCKING BAY

This is space for all personal spaceships and Host shuttles to park inside the Theorem, and it is large enough to fit even moderately sized ships. This is also the space that hosts the basic personal spaceships that Wayfarers can claim. It's an incredibly active space, not to mention a noisy one — best not to linger, unless you like that!
